Using the License Management window

Settings

You can hide and show this section.

Check out automatically, if possible:

•  If the option is selected, the product will start automatically if it finds at least one valid license.

•  If the option is not selected, the License Management window always opens when starting the program and you have to select a license. The product will start automatically regardless of the option if exactly one license is found.

Licenses

Saved product licenses:

• locally on your computer
• on CodeMeter servers in your network
• on CodeMeter servers in the cloud

Use license: Select the license by activating the checkbox to start the product. Multiple licenses can be selected. The order in the list determines the order in which the licenses are used. If a license is being used by another user, you can select it but may not be able to use it, such as in the case of a Floating Network license when all seats are currently occupied.

Product: PTV Vision products for which this license is valid. Click the + sign to display the add-ons.

License number: License number

License name: Name of the license You can change the name.

Type:

• Single user license: Single user license
• Single user license (borrowed): License currently borrowed on the local computer.
• Floating network license (without borrowing): Floating network license, without the option to borrow
• Floating network license (with borrowing): Floating network license with the option to borrow. The license can be used directly or borrowed on a local computer.
• Floating cloud license: Floating cloud license hosted by PTV
• Only borrowing possible: Floating Network license for borrowing. The license must be borrowed to a local computer and cannot be directly used over the network.

Status:

• Available: The license can be used.
• Unavailable: The license cannot be used, causes can be for example:

• the license server is unavailable
• the license has been deactivated but not yet deleted from the list

• Locked: The license cannot be used, for example, after a security problem occurs.
• Checking: The status of the license is temporarily unknown (will be updated automatically).

Seats (Floating Network License): Number of available seats and the maximum possible number of seats for a license (concurrent users)

• For single-user licenses: 1 or only local
• For floating network licenses: Number of users still available and the total number of seats, e.g. 255/300.

The tooltip displays how often the license is directly in use and how often it is borrowed, if at all.

Expiration date: Display of the expiration date of the license, where applicable, otherwise unlimited

Available in version: Usable product versions for the license

Server: License server, for example Localhost for the local computer or CmCloud for a floating cloud license

Serial number (Container):: Serial number of the license container:

• USB dongles start with the number 1,2, or 3
• Soft containers with 130
• Cloud containers with 140

Activate license (Activating a license on your computer), (Activating a license on a license server). Not relevant for cloud licenses.

Deactivate selected license. You can activate this license later again with the license key (Deactivating a license on your own computer), (Deactivating a license on a license server). Not relevant for cloud licenses.

To select a license, click on the corresponding row instead of activating the checkbox in the Use License column.

Update selected license (Updating licenses on your computer), (Updating a license on a license server). Not relevant for cloud licenses.

To select a license, click on the corresponding row instead of activating the checkbox in the Use License column.

Start the search for new licenses on the registered license servers and cloud license containers (Finding licenses).

Select Remove from list to remove the selected license from the list (Removing licenses from the list that are not (no longer) available)

To select a license, click on the corresponding row instead of activating the checkbox in the Use License column.

Edit CodeMeter settings

You can edit the license servers and license containers in the CodeMeter settings window:

• (Adding license servers to the list of all searchable servers)
• (Removing a license server from the search list)
• (Editing a license server in the search list)
• (Using cloud-based licenses)
