Modeling parking lots
There are the following use cases for the network object Parking lot:
- Real parking spaces: With static routes and dynamic assignment, for modeling roadside parking on longitudinal, perpendicular or diagonal parking spaces and parking on pick-up/drop-off parking spaces
You have the following options for defining real parking spaces:
- Create network objects individually: On a link, you define a network object of the type Parking lot, including the desired length and number of parking spaces (Modeling parking and stopping on the roadside), (Defining parking lots)
- Create a car park: On a new or existing link, you create a Car park and specify the desired number of perpendicular or diagonal parking spaces (Creating a car park). You can define relevant parking space attributes while you are generating the car park. Vissim will insert all other necessary network objects, such as the parking spaces, the links and connectors for parking and leaving a parking space as well as the parking routing decision. You have to move the parking routing decision upstream to the desired position so that vehicles can react in time. (Positioning parking routing decisions of car parks).
- Abstract parking lot: For dynamic assignment to model multiple, real parking lots, e.g. in an underground garage or parking garage (Modeling parking lots and zones)
- Zone connector: For dynamic assignment to model the origins and destinations of all trips (Modeling parking lots and zones)
