Using PTV Vissim Kernel
PTV Vissim Kernel is a computational kernel for Linux or Windows computers that allows you to run simulations and write simulation results. An installation package is available for each of the two supported operating systems: PTV Vissim Kernel (Windows), PTV Vissim Kernel (Linux) 
Webpage PTV Vissim Setups. You access PTV Vissim Kernel via the command line or the driving simulator interface.
Each PTV Vissim Kernel instance requires a license. You cannot use multiple PTV Vissim Kernel instances with a single license.
It does not have a graphical user interface. The COM interface is not supported.
The following signal controllers are supported:
- Fixed Time (simple) (Using signal controller type Fixed time (simple))
- Fixed time (Using signal controller type Fixed time)
- 2-Stage Controller (Using 2-stage controllers)
- Pedestrian Crossing (Defining pedestrian crossing)
- Ramp Metering Controller (Defining ramp metering controllers)
- Railway Crossing (Generating a railway crossing)
In a typical use case, you would model your network using a full version of Vissim and multiple Linux computers with PTV Vissim Kernel installed to calculate simulations of the network that are configured differently.
