Duplicating network objects

You can select and duplicate individual or multiple network objects in a list or a network editor.

Duplicating independent and dependent network objects

In the network editor, you can duplicate the following network objects:

  • One or more selected independent network objects, for example, from network object type links, connectors, areas, ramps, nodes, sections, static 3D objects, 3D traffic signals, background. You can also duplicate independent network objects of different network object types. You can move duplicate independent network objects in the network editor.

This also duplicates the selected dependent network objects located on the selected independent network objects. This applies, for example, to a selected pedestrian route from which an intermediate point is located on a selected surface. Assignments between duplicated standalone network objects and duplicated dependent network objects are transferred according to the network objects that are duplicated.

  • One or more selected dependent network objects which lie on an independent network object. You can also duplicate dependent network objects of different network object types. You can move duplicated dependent network objects in the network editor to the independent network object or another independent network object of the same network object type.
Selection order defines sequence of duplicate numbers

You can select multiple network objects of the same network object type for duplication. The order in which you select the network objects determines the sequence of numbers in which Vissim numbers the duplicates. During the simulation run Vissim processes network objects based on the numbering. Example:

  • You select three routing decisions 1, 2, 3 in the order 3, 1, 2 and then duplicate them.
  • Vissim numbers the duplicates:
Number of routing decision Number of duplicate
3 4
1 5
2 6
  • During the simulation run Vissim processes the routing decisions based on their numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

Vissim does not process them in the following order: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 4.

Tips:

  • You can sort the network objects in the list of the respective network object type, select them by chronological order and duplicate them.
  • You can display the number of the network objects in the Network Editor and thus easily select the network objects in the desired order.
Selecting and duplicating network objects

1.  Select the desired network objects in the list or in the network editor.

2.  On the shortcut menu, click the desired entry:

Element Functions to duplicate
Lists

Shortcut menu > Duplicate: You can also select more cells and therefore duplicate more network objects.

Network Editors
  • Shortcut menu > Duplicate
  • Hold down the Ctrl key, click in the network object and drag the new network object to the desired position:
  • for independent network objects, for example, links or areas, to the desired position in the network editor
  • for dependent network objects which, for example, lie on links or areas to the desired link or area

In the list of the network objects of the network object type, a new row is added for the new network object. The new network object is added in the network editor in the same position as the duplicated network object and is selected. This allows you to easily move the new network object to the desired position.

A new connector is assigned the attribute Number, which is a number available > 9,999.

For all other network object types, a new network object is given the next higher number available as the Number attribute.
