Modeling pavement markings

You can insert pavement markings to visualize the following objects (Defining pavement markings), (Attributes of pavement markings):

  • Arrow pointing left, right or straight. With arrow markers you indicate the permissible movement directions in the lanes.
  • Lanes can be marked with a diamond symbol. Especially in the USA and Canada, diamond symbols are used to mark lanes which may only be used by vehicles with a minimum number of occupants.
  • U-turn: Display change of driving direction by 180°
  • US roundabout: especially used in the US: Wavy line with arrowhead indicates roundabout.
  • Zebra crossing

Note: Pavement markings do not affect the driving behavior and are not used to model turn relations. Turning movements are modeled with vehicle routes (Modeling vehicle routing decision, vehicle routes and partial vehicle routes).
