INRIX Interface
INRIX provides services pertaining to road traffic, and supplies:
- Historical real-time traffic information.
- Traffic forecasts.
- Travel times.
- Travel time polygons.
- Traffic counts to businesses.
INRIX also gathers and reports roadway incidents, such as accidents, road closures, and road works.
What Optima can import from INRIX
Optima can import real-time speed information provided by INRIX.
The data provided by INRIX is referred to locations encoded by OpenLR (→ OpenLR).
From INRIX you can obtain the so-called XD Segments (XDS). These segments are line location references defined by several (typically two) location reference points.
A decoding process is run to refer the traffic data to the Optima reference network. The accuracy of the decoding result depends on the base network accuracy - in particular, on the availability of the link attributes required by OpenLR. Usually, some post-processing of the decoding result is needed to refine the map-matching.
The post-processing action involves:
- Incrementing the number of streets mapped on the INRIX network (encoded in OpenLR).
- Cleaning the mapping from wrong results.
