OpenLR
The OpenLR standard focuses on creating map-independent references for line, point, and area locations. Optima currently supports the OpenLR standard as specified in version 1.5 of the White Paper (see → External documents).
A digital map consists of nodes and lines. Lines represent real world roads or parts of a road. Nodes represent crossings of roads or parts of roads. Nodes are the connecting points between the lines.
To transmit location information from a "sender" to a "receiver", OpenLR defines rules for generating map-independent location references.
The current location references are generated dynamically without any precoding steps.
The encoder and decoder map may differ. The OpenLR standard provides a method for referencing the same location on both maps.
Our aim is to maximize the number of location references decoded correctly.
