OpenLR decoder configuration

Traffic flow feeds are georeferenced via the TomTom OpenLR Dynamic Location Referencing method.

The OpenLR standard establishes a map-independent location referencing of lines, points, and area locations.

In the case of traffic flow feeds provided from TomTom, Here, or Inrix, the encoded line location references get decoded on the Optima network through the OpenLR decoder.

OpenLR decoder georeferences each location reference (LR) to a series of mapped streets in the Optima network, minimizing a specific cost function.

The function considers difference between a LR and the mapped streets for each given attribute.

The specific weights used into the cost function can be configured appropriately to accommodate differences between the input and the output and maximize the number of location references decoded correctly.

Further information about the specific attributes can be found in → OpenLR methodology.

The decoder can be configured through the file:

/opt/ptv-optima-as/standalone/configuration/optima/optima_library_conf/openlr/OpenLR-Decoder-Properties.xml

Important:  The decoder configuration strongly influences the georeferencing process, impacting the traffic flow real time data quality. Configuration updates must be addressed considering any possible effect on data quality.
