Generate actual timetable from measured data

You can generate an actual timetable with the actual number of journeys measured during operation, which you can compare with the planned timetable in various ways. This allows you to systematically identify the causes of recurring timetable disruptions (Fundamentals: Compare actual and target timetable). To do this, you need to save the measured operating data in input attributes at the vehicle journey items of planned vehicle journeys in Visum.

Save measured data in Visum

1.  From the menu, select List > PuT supply > Lines > Vehicle journey items.

2.  Select the following attributes for the list as required (Accessing attributes):

  • Measured arrival
  • The measured vehicle journey served this item
  • Measured departure
  • Measured post run time
  • Measured stop time

The attributes depend on each other. When individual data is entered, dependent data sets are automatically added to the list.

3.  Enter your measured values in the corresponding columns of the list.

Note: The data is transferred without prior checking for consistency. Negative times can therefore also be calculated.

4.  Close the list.

Calculate actual timetable

You can use the special function Generate vehicle journeys from measured times to generate the actual timetable from the measured data.

1.  In the Network window, right-click the Lines button.

2.  From the shortcut menu, select the entry Generate vehicle journeys from measured times.

The Generate vehicle journeys from measured times window is opened.

3.  Make the desired changes.

Element

Description

Edit active vehicle journeys only

If the option is selected, only active vehicle journeys will be taken into account.

Delete existing measured vehicle journeys beforehand

If the option is selected, all previously created vehicle journeys will be deleted.

If the option is not selected, newly created vehicle journeys are added to the existing vehicle journeys.

4.  Confirm with OK.

New vehicle journeys and time profiles are generated from the measured data. You can recognize the vehicle journeys by the suffix "measured" in the name of the vehicle journeys and the attribute 'Is measured vehicle journey'. An underscore with an incremented number is appended to the names of the new time profiles.
