Adjusting the signal time-space diagram

1.  Make sure the Signal time-space diagram window is open (Opening a signal time-space diagram).

2.  Select the settings you need in the upper window pane.

Element

Description

Path (initial direction)

Use this button to select a different path as initial direction (Opening a signal time-space diagram).

Note

You cannot always select all available PrT paths, as certain criteria must be met for selection.

Path (reverse direction)

Use this button to select a different path as reverse direction (Opening a signal time-space diagram).

Parameters

Use the Edit button to change the basic settings of the signal time-space diagram (Setting travel times for the signal time-space diagram).

Max. signal time

Define the period of time that you want to display on the time axis of the signal time-space diagram.

Note

By default Visum determines the time period as follows: It calculates the least common denominator of all cycle times displayed in the diagram and multiplies this value with two.

Signal time-space diagram mode

Flowing off

Based on the green time of the displayed turn at a signal control, a green band indicates the possible range in which vehicles with the defined travel time can travel to the next signal control.

Arterial bands

The green band is displayed only for the range in which a vehicle with the defined travel times reaches all signal controls on its way at green (progressive signal system). Therefore it is a subset of the green bands visualized with the Flowing off option. If this constellation does not exist, no green band is displayed.

The settings are applied.

Setting travel times for the signal time-space diagram

1.  Make sure the Signal time-space diagram window is open (Opening a signal time-space diagram).

2.  In the upper window area next to Parameters, click Edit.

The Parameters: Signal time-space diagram window opens.

3.  Make the desired settings on the Platoon progression tab.

Element

Description

Travel times

For each of the network object types, select a numerical attribute for path leg travel time calculation and enter a factor, if applicable.

Note

This setting is also used for the network-wide signal optimization (Network-wide signal optimization). If necessary, use the button to adopt the parameters from the procedure.

4.  Confirm with OK.

The changes are applied.
