The line construction procedure generates a public transport supply from line routes and headways. It is based on the infrastructure available for public transport and a given demand. The infrastructure includes the network open for traffic and the stop points. Demand represents the desired demand for public transport for a given period. An adjustable objective function controls the weighting of competing requirements of operating costs and passenger needs. The procedure is integrated as an action in scenario management and delivers not only the best, but optionally many good solutions. Generated line concepts are available as scenarios. Each scenario represents a basic public transport supply for the time range for which the demand was specified. This basic supply consists of lines, line routes, and headway information.
