Connection preselection
The preselection of connections compares and evaluates all found connections. This includes the check, whether a connection could be replaced by a more suitable one and thus can be deleted. Only convenient connections are offered to the passengers for the connection choice. In order to identify inconvenient connections, the following exclusion rules are applied in turn.
- Search impedance of the connection > minimum search impedance • factor + constant, or
(no limitations; just branch & bound)
- Journey time of the connection > minimum journey time • factor + constant
(unless the connection is optimal with respect to the number of transfers)
- Number of transfers of the connection > minimum number of transfers + constant
(unless the connection is optimal with respect to the journey time)
The factors and constants can be set by the user.
In addition, connections can be deleted that either lie entirely within the preceding or succeeding leg or that start or end before or after the assignment period. Application of the latter rule depends on the time reference (Using Visum: Timetable-based assignment: Preselection page).
