You can apply a created global layout directly to the currently loaded network.
1. Make sure the desired project is open (Editing basic settings of the project).
2. In the Edit project window, click the Global layouts tab.
3. In the list, click the global layout of your choice.
4. Click the 
Apply the selected global layout to the background networkicon.
The selected global layout is applied to the currently loaded network.
