Import of elevation data from GeoTIFF files
You can import GeoTIFF files to add elevation data to your transportation model. GeoTIFFs are georeferenced raster tiles. A network enriched with elevation data enables better modeling of pedestrian and bicycle traffic as well as e-mobility.
By intersecting and interpolating the raster data with the network data during import, nodes and link intermediate points are assigned z-coordinates. The z-coordinates are then used to automatically calculate the following link attributes:
-
Maximum positive/negative slope
-
Accumulated positive/negative height
-
Average slope
These attributes can later be used to define the impedance of the active modes or in the discharging function to calculate the range of electric vehicles. Optionally, the input attribute Slope can also be set.
Precise elevation data of a terrain model can mostly be found at the state offices for free use.
