Importing network data

1.  In the File menu, select the Import > Import of network data entry.

2.  Select the Basic settings tab.

3.  Make the desired settings:

Element

Description

Attribute transfer direction

Here you can choose whether you want to transfer the network data of the currently loaded network to an external network or vice versa.

The network from which the attributes are transferred is referred to as the source network in the following. The network to which the attributes are transferred is called the target network.

External network

Select the external network here.

Note

If a network has no co-ordinate system, the co-ordinates are transferred unchanged from the source network to the target network.

Model transfer file

If you transfer data from the current to an external network, you can specify the location and name of a model transfer file containing the differences between the original network and the modified network.

Modified external network

When you transfer data from the current network to an external network, it is modified. Enter the location and file name for the modified external network here.

Create POIs in the currently loaded network for POI category

Optionally, you can transfer the link sequences generated in the external network to POIs of the selected POI category of the currently loaded network to visually support verification or post-processing.

If you transfer link sequences of an external network to the current one, here you can select the POI category in which the data will be saved as POIs. Alternatively, you can insert a new category.

4.  Select the Transport systems tab.

Element

Description

Import

The table contains all transport systems of the external network.

Activate the Import option for all transport systems for which link sequences from the external network shall be mapped to links and (main) turns of the currently loaded network. The prerequisite for this is that permitted transport systems are defined for links and turns, if necessary. If you allocate the entry any to a transport system in the currently loaded network, the link sequences are generated independently of the transport system set of the objects.

For transport systems of the external network, which are assigned to transport systems in the currently loaded network and for which this is selected, this information is used as follows:

  • Link sequences are generated for these transport systems of the external network or generated independently in case of any permitted transport systems.

  • In routing, the shortest path search is performed with the transport system assigned in the currently loaded network.

  • According to the settings on the Network change tab, transport systems for links and turns in the currently loaded network will be adjusted if necessary.

Save parameters / Open parameters

Using the buttons, you can save your settings in a *.prti file or open saved settings.

Only transport systems with an allocation are saved in the parameter file.

5.  Select the Link sequences tab.

Element

Description

Consider only active links in the external network

If the option is selected, passive links are not taken into account for generating the link sequences.

Attributes to be considered

Link sequences in the external network result from the trafficability of successive links for a transport system as well as from the similarity of the links with regard to selectable attributes such as name (e.g. B822 or M5) or bicycle route (e.g. Camel Trail).

Here you can insert link attributes according to which the similarity of links for generating link sequences in the external network is determined. Attribute values of links are compared with those of the starting link of the link sequence, i.e. not only consecutive links. The trafficability, i.e. the permitted transport systems on links and turns, is always taken into account. Also specify the desired minimum match in the table.

6.  Select the Routing tab.

Element

Description

Shortest path search

Mapping of link sequences to links of the loaded network is done using shortest path search and map matching.

Only route via active links

If the option is selected, routing in the currently loaded network is performed only via active links.

Below you can specify a value for the additional costs for different names of consecutive links in percent.

Run detour test

Select this option to perform a detour test. You can specify values for the relation between the costs of the currently loaded network and the costs of the external network.

Enter the values in the fields at which the shortest path search is canceled.

Map Matching

Snap radius for geographic candidate search (link course points)

The radius specifies the tolerance with which the coordinates of the link courses of the external network can be allocated to the links of the currently loaded network.

Enter the value for the snap radius in meters (m).

Maximum number of candidates per link course point

Maximum number of nodes, link positions, or free co-ordinates that occur per link course point in the currently loaded network

Standard deviation

The larger the value, the less precisely the link course points are placed if, as a result, the link sequence becomes shorter. Enter the desired value.

7.  Select the Network change tab.

Note: Network changes are only possible when you transfer data from the external network to the currently loaded network, i.e. when the external network acts as the source network and the currently loaded network acts as the target network. If attributes are transferred in the other direction, this tab is grayed out, because no network changes are possible in the external network.

Element

Description

Open closed links, turns, and main turns for relevant transport systems

If this option is selected, closed links, turns, and main turns are opened in the loaded network and used in map matching.

Create nodes and links /

Split links

Once the options are selected, nodes and links can be inserted in the loaded network and links can be split.

Devaluation for...

If the previous two options are selected, you can assign weights for devaluing newly inserted network objects.

The greater the weight of a property, the more likely it is that objects will be created or links will be split. Large numbers upgrade the property, small numbers devalue the property.

Link type of newly created links

Select the link type for newly created links from the drop-down list or create a new one. It receives the next free number.

8.  Select the Data transfer tab.

Element

Description

Split links when attribute values change in the course

The option is available only when you transfer data from an external network to the current network.

If it is selected and insertion of links is allowed ( Network change tab), links are split at the positions where attribute values change.

In the table, add all the link attributes that you want to transfer to the target network and make the desired settings. The source attribute is a link attribute in the network from which attributes are transferred. The target attribute is a link attribute in the network to which is transferred.

9.  Confirm with OK.

The network data is transferred.
