Configuration

There are only a few parameters that need to be adjusted to your situation. The central parameter is the spatial structure, which can consist of several hierarchically arranged systems. It depends on the degree of resolution of the available statistical data. For example, a typical structure consists of four layers: community type, community, district, and building block.

The first layer, the community type, is used to correctly assign original households to the corresponding model areas. This prevents households from rural areas from being transplanted to inner city areas of the model area. The other layers each contain statistical data (i.e., marginal distributions) of varying granularity that are to be replicated by the synthetic population.
