Importing elevation data

Note: To import elevation data, a projection must be set in the Visum network (Selecting a coordinate system).

You start the import of elevation data into your network as follows.

1.  From the File menu, select Import > Elevation data from a GeoTIFF data source.

The Import of elevation data from a GeoTIFF data source window opens.

2.  Make the desired changes.

Element

Description

Import elevation data for

Select the objects for which you want to import elevation data.

You can read elevation data for nodes and links. If necessary, limit the selection to only active nodes or links. In the case of nodes, the elevation data is stored in the z-coordinate attribute, and in the case of link intermediate points, in the z-coordinate of the intermediate points.

Note

The z-coordinate of the link intermediate points can be displayed and edited interactively if required. To do this, open the shortcut menu for links and activate the Permit interactive editing of geometries setting.

Data source

Use the Configure button to select the directory that contains one or more GeoTIFF files. The meta information of the files is read and the files are displayed as individually selectable references that can be added to or removed from the data source.

Projection

If there are files with different projections in the directory, you must select a projection. All GeoTIFF files to be used must be in the same projection. Therefore, within a GeoTIFF data source, all images must support the same projection.

Post-processing

If the option is selected, the link attribute Slope will be assigned the value of the calculated attribute Average slope after the import. The attribute is calculated from the z-coordinates of the From- and To-nodes and the link length for all links for which elevation data is imported.

Save parameters / Open parameters

Using the buttons, you can save your settings in an *.xml file or open saved settings.

Reset

The button allows you to delete all entries in the window.

3.  Confirm with OK.

The data is imported.
