Displaying active point objects
You can configure the display of active point objects in the Network editor window. The uniform display of point objects is described below. You can also display objects classified by attribute values (Displaying classified objects based on attribute values).
1. On the Graphics menu, click Edit graphic parameters.
Tip: Alternatively, to open the window, press the Ctrl key together with the G key. |
The Edit graphic parameters: Network editor window opens.
2. In the navigator, select the Zones entry.
Note: The graphic parameters for all point objects are nearly identical. This example describes the settings for the point-type object 'zone'. |
3. Make the desired changes.

Description |
Draw layer zones |
If the option has been selected, the layer is displayed in the network display. |
Avoid overlap when drawing |
If the option has been selected, only zones are drawn that do not overlap one another. Note This applies to the centroid of two-dimensional point objects, not to their boundaries or faces. Tables and charts are only displayed if they do not overlap (Adding tables or charts to network objects). They can, however, overlap point objects. If the option is not selected, all zones of a layer are displayed, even if they overlap one another. Note Zoom into the overlapping section, if required. |
Object drawing order according to attribute value |
You can also set the drawing order of active zones using a selected attribute to display important zones in the foreground. Attribute Here you select the attribute whose value is to determine the drawing order. Note If you do not select an attribute, the zones are drawn according to the key sequence. Largest values in the foreground If this option has been selected, the zones with the largest values of the selected attribute are displayed in the foreground. Smallest values in the foreground If this option has been selected, the zones with the smallest values of the selected attribute are displayed in the foreground. Note On the Display page, you can also specify the number of objects displayed under Object selection. |
4. In the navigator, select the entry Zones > Display > tab Active.
Tip: Alternatively, you can call the graphic parameters page Display for a network object type by right-clicking the respective icon of the network object type in the Network window. |
5. Make the desired changes.

Description |
Object selection |
Display of the objects currently drawn You can restrict the display, for example, to the 5 zones with the largest Number of lines. A click on the link opens a window in which you can make the following settings: Restrict object selection If this option has been selected, only the objects defined under Maximum number are drawn. Attribute Here you select the attribute that you want to use to restrict the display. Criterion Here you determine whether the objects are drawn with the largest or smallest values of the selected attribute. |
Uniform display |
If the option has been selected, all active zones are displayed uniformly. Note The options described below are displayed if you select the uniform display. |
Classified display |
If the option has been selected, the active zones can be classified and displayed by an attribute (Displaying classified objects based on attribute values). |
Options for the uniform display |
Preview Here you can see how zones will be displayed according to the current settings. Draw object If the option has been selected, active zones and selected subordinated objects (e.g. Tables) will be drawn. If the option has not been selected, neither active zones nor subordinated objects will be drawn. Draw until scale If the option has been selected, the zones are drawn up to the set scale when you zoom out (Editing the network scale). If the option has not been selected, the zones are always displayed, no matter what scale is used in the network. Draw point object If the option has been selected, active zones are displayed. Draw surfaces If the option has been selected, existing margins and faces of two-dimensional zones are drawn. You can specify the fill style, the color, and a line style in a separate window. To do so, click in the field (Editing the properties of a closed polygon). Note The option is only available for the network objects zones, main zones, POIs, main nodes, and restricted traffic areas. Draw table If the option has been selected, the zones are labeled with tables according to the settings on the Table page (Adding tables to network objects). Draw chart If the option is selected, zones are labeled with a chart, according to the settings on the Chart page (Adding charts to network objects). |
Point object type |
Here you select whether the zone is displayed as text, symbol, or image. |
Text/Symbol/Image |
Depending on the selected option, the zone is displayed as text, symbol or image. The settings change accordingly. |
Text |
If the Text option is selected, zones are displayed as a text. Contents Via the button, select the attribute. The values of this attributes are used for the display of the zones. Size Text size in mm Font You can specify the font and the style in a separate window by clicking in the field. Transparent If the option has been selected, the text is displayed without the white background, as text only. Color Use the selection list to select a color for the text. Frame If the option has been selected, the text is framed. Use the drop-down list to select a color for the text frame. Round Rounding factor for the attribute values Decimal places Enter the number of decimal places for the display of the attribute values. Note The option is only available for numerical attributes of the type floating-point number. |
Symbol |
If the Symbol option has been selected, zones are displayed by the selected symbol. Use the drop-down list to select a different symbol. Size Symbol size in mm Color Use the drop-down list to select a color for the symbol . (Editing the properties of a closed polygon). Show character If you select the Circle or Square symbol, you can activate the input field by checking the box. In the input field, you can enter a sign which will be displayed inside the circle or square. Use the drop-down list to select a color for the sign. |
Image |
If the Image option has been selected, zones are displayed by a graphic file. For the display of zones, you can select an image file (*.bmp, *.jpg, etc.) via the button. Notes When you have selected an image file, a query opens. Once you have confirmed the query, the specified height is replaced with the current image size. A preview displays the selected image file. The image file is inserted as link and will not be saved with the version file. If Visum does not find the path to the image file the next time it is opened, a warning is issued and the graphic will not be displayed. We thus recommend that all image files are saved to one directory which should be specified in the project directory file (Editing the storage location of files). Height Image height in mm Draw label If this option is checked, the image will be labeled. Click this button to open a separate window and select an attribute of the particular network object type for the labels.
Height of the label (as percentage of the image height)
Rounding factor for the attribute values
Use the selection list to select a color for the labels.
Enter the number of decimal places for the display of the attribute values. Note The option is only available for numerical attributes of the type floating-point number. |
Note: If you click the Preview button, your changes show immediately without the Edit graphic parameters: Network editor window being closed. |
6. Confirm with OK.
The zones are displayed according to your chosen settings.
