In addition to the maps by freely available map providers, Visum provides the possibility to use high-resolution aerial pictures and maps by Bing Maps as background graphics. Due to the terms of use of Bing Maps, these data cannot be stored permanently. Therefore, Visum only saves the sections and zoom levels for which backgrounds of Bing Maps were embedded in the graphic parameters and in the version file, and reloads them from Bing Maps each time they are used. This ensures that the latest available map material is always used. Different functionalities for the administration of backgrounds are thus not available for Bing Maps backgrounds.

Notes: Backgrounds by Bing Maps are only available to customers with maintenance agreements. In order to use Bing Maps backgrounds, a coordinate system must be set for the network (User Manual: Selecting a coordinate system). Unlike the use of static backgrounds of freely accessible map providers (Statically embedding background images by map providers), you need an Internet connection for each session. The update of the backgrounds is automatic. |
