Importing accidents

Safety can import accidents in the *.txt and *.csv file formats. The format of the accident data is either the Safety standard format (Importing accidents provided in the standard file format of PTV Visum Safety) or a user-defined format (Importing accidents provided in a user-defined file format).

Note: Before importing accident data, under Network > Network settings > Co-ordinate system, set a coordinate system.

1.  Open the Visum network, you would like to use as a basis.

2.  In the Visum Safety section, right-click the Accidents button.

3.  From the shortcut menu, choose Import.

4.  Select the *.txt or *.csv file.

5.  Click the Open button.

6.  If you have defined more than one configuration, the Import accidents window opens.

7.  Select the desired accident data configuration and confirm with OK.

If you have already imported accidents, you can now decide whether existing accidents should be deleted before importing or whether the accidents should be imported additively:

Element

Description

Yes

The existing accidents are deleted from the database. This means that only the imported accident data is then saved to the database.

No

The accidents are imported additively.

During import, a duplicate check is performed using the selected accident ID. If duplicates are found, another window opens and you have the following options to choose from:

  • Overwrite existing accidents: The new accidents replace the old ones.
  • Overwrite existing accidents except their position: Existing accidents are overwritten, but retain their position. This option is useful if you have changed the position of accidents.
  • Do not overwrite existing accidents: The old accidents are retained.

8.  Confirm with OK.

The accidents are imported. After the import process, a window opens that allows you to allocate (Multi-allocating accidents automatically) the accident data to the network.
