1. From the Edit menu, choose User preferences.
The User preferences window opens.
2. In the navigator, click User interface > Matrix editor.
3. In the Behavior of arithmetic operations (also when evaluating formulas) section, make desired settings.

4. Confirm with OK.
The settings are applied.
