Multi-allocating accidents automatically

By default, imported accidents are automatically placed at their coordinates in the network and allocated to the closest node or link. If the node or link lies within a main node, they are assigned to the main node. The automatic allocation does not work if the links or nodes are too far away from the accident site. This is the case if the accident occurred in a parking lot, for example, or in a very large area.

You can use the filter to find those accidents which have not yet been allocated and allocate them automatically. As criteria, enter the maximum distance to a node and the maximum distance to a link.

Notes: Accidents which do not satisfy any criterion - neither the max. distance link nor the max. distance node values - are not allocated.

If you do not filter accidents but select them, the accidents might already be allocated to links or nodes. These allocations are lost if the accidents are multi-allocated although they neither meet the max. distance to node or link criteria.

Accidents which could not automatically be allocated because they do not satisfy the criteria, can manually be placed and allocated one by one (Placing and allocating accidents).

1.  Use the filter to find accidents which have not yet been allocated.

2.  In the Safety section, right-click the Accidents button.

3.  From the shortcut menu, choose Multi-allocate.

The Automatic allocation window opens.

4.  Make the desired changes:

Element Description

max. distance link

The accidents are allocated to the link which is located within this distance. For the length unit, the current setting is used; please refer to menu Edit > User preferences > Network > General.

max. distance node

The accidents are allocated to the node which is located within this distance. For the length unit, the current setting is used; please refer to menu Edit > User preferences > Network > General.

Allocate to link or node?

node first if possible

If this option is checked, the accidents will be allocated to the node in the event that both criteria (max. distance link/node) are satisfied. If this is not the case, also links will be taken into account.

match accident attribute ‘intersection’

If this option is checked, the accidents will be allocated to the closest node only if the attribute Intersection has been set in the accident data. Otherwise, they will be allocated to the closest link.

match link attribute Road Type

If this option is checked, the accidents will be allocated only if the appropriate road class is contained in the accident data.

match link attribute Road ID

If this option is checked, the accidents will be allocated only if the appropriate road number is contained in the accident data.

5.  Confirm with OK.

A progress bar window opens viewing the stage of the allocation process.
