Commenting in the Network Editor

In the Network Editor, you can add a comment to a location or a selected network object. In the Network Editor, the
symbol indicates the position of a comment. This allows you to immediately identify the location or network object to which a comment belongs. Enter the comment in the Comments window. The Comments window also displays comment-related information and provides the following functions:
- Add a comment to a network object (Adding a comment to a network object)

- Reply to a comment and start a thread (Replying to a Comment)
- Edit or delete your comment or reply (Editing or deleting your comment or reply)
- Display the list of comments in the Comments window (Displaying the list of comments in the Comments window)

- Display a thread for a comment (Showing a thread on a comment)
- Resolve a thread (Resolving a thread)

Adding a comment to a network object
1. On the Network object sidebar, click the network object type of the network object to which you want to add a comment.
2. In the Network editor, double-click the network object of your choice.
The network object is highlighted.
3. On the Network editor toolbar, click
Add comment.
The
symbol appears next to the cursor.
4. Click the selected network object.
The comment symbol turns blue within the network object
. The Comments window opens on the right-hand side by default.
5. Enter your comment in the input field.
6. Click
Send.
The Comments window displays:
- The key with the unique ID and the network object type (in the comment title)
- The name of the user who added the comment
- Date and time of submission
- The comment text
- An input field for replies
7. To display the unique ID and network object type line by line, click
next to the comment title.
8. To display the list of all comments, click
Back.
If a filter is active, not all comments may be displayed.
9. Optionally, filter the comments or show all comments (Filtering comments by network, user, or status)
Adding a comment to a location
1. On the Network editor toolbar, click
Add comment.
The
symbol appears next to the cursor.
2. Click the desired position in the Network Editor.
The comment symbol turns blue
. The Comments window opens on the right-hand side by default.
3. Enter your comment in the input field.
4. Click
Submit.
The Comments window displays:
- The comment type Coordinate (in the title)
- The name of the user who added the comment
- Date and time of submission
- The comment text
- An input field for replies
5. To display the type and coordinate line by line, click
next to the comment title.
Replying to a Comment
You and other users can reply to comments, creating a thread. You can resolve a thread (Resolving a thread).
1. In the Network Editor, click the comment of your choice.
2. Enter your comment in the input field.
3. Click
Submit.
If you display the list of comments in the Comments window, the counter in the Show more (number) row increases when replies are added.
Editing or deleting your comment or reply
If a thread is open in the Comments window and first comments and replies are displayed, you can edit or delete your entries. The thread must not be resolved (Resolving a thread), (Reopening a resolved thread).
1. In the Network Editor, click the comment of your choice.
2. In the Comments window hover over the desired entry.

3. Click the desired symbol.
Displaying the list of comments in the Comments window
If the Comments window is not visible:
- ► On the View menu, click > Comments.
If a comment is currently open in the Comments window, return to the list view:
- ► In the Comments window, click
Back.
Showing and hiding comment symbols in the Network editor
You can show and hide the
symbol for all comments.
- ► On the View menu, click > Comment symbols.
Showing a thread on a comment
- If a comment has replies, they are displayed below the original comment and form a thread. You can:
- Reply to the comment (Replying to a Comment)
- Edit your comment (Editing or deleting your comment or reply)
- Resolve the thread (Resolving a thread)
- If the list view is displayed, you can show the thread with all replies to a specific comment in the Comments window.
1. Display the list of comments (Displaying the list of comments in the Comments window).
2. Optionally, filter the list (Filtering comments by network, user, or status).
3. Click Show more (number) for the desired comment.
The thread opens and displays all replies below the original comment.
Resolving a thread
1. In the Network Editor, click the comment of your choice.
2. In the Comments window, click
Resolve thread.

Reopening a resolved thread
If a thread is resolved, the
appears in the title.
1. In the Network Editor, click the comment of your choice.
2. In the Comments window, click
Reopen thread.
You and other users can reply again. Replies can be edited, (Editing or deleting your comment or reply) and the thread can be resolved (Resolving a thread).

Deleting a thread/comment
1. In the Network Editor, click the comment of your choice.
2. In the Comments window, click
Delete thread.
3. Confirm with Yes.
The comment is removed from the Network Editor. The comment and thread are removed from the Comments window.

Filtering comments by network, user, or status
You can filter the comment list by:
- Comments in the currently open Vissim network
- Comments in all networks of the model, if scenario management includes multiple networks
- Comments relevant to you (comments you created and containing your user name)
- Comments with status Active or Resolved
1. In the Comments window, select the desired tab Current network or Model.
2. Click
Show filter.
3. Select All or the desired status Active or Resolved.
4. Optionally, enable the For me box
Searching for text in comments
1. Optionally, filter comments by network, user, or status (Filtering comments by network, user, or status).
2. Enter the desired text in the Search box.
The search starts immediately, and all comments containing the specified text are displayed.
