SCATS Interface
The Sidney Coordinated Adaptive Traffic System Intelligent Transport System (SCATS ITS) is an area traffic management system that operates in real-time, adjusting signal timings in response to variations in traffic demand and system capacity as they occur.
The SCATS ITS interface allows ITS applications provided by a third party to exchange data with a SCATS host using TCP/IP protocol.
SCATS can be connected to a wide set of different devices, such as traffic controllers and detectors which:
- Read direct measurements of different traffic data.
- Send signals to manage these devices and manage different traffic policies in real time.
The integration of SCATS with PTV Optima allows for the governance of the traffic management policies according to:
- The offline planning simulation capabilities and the underlying model provided by PTV Visum.
- The real time features provided by PTV Optima.
The basic data workflow is based on six main steps:
When incoming data from the SCATS interface are stored in the DB, these feed the PTV Optima model.
In order to enable the SCATS interface in PTV Optima, you need to perform two main steps:
- The SCATS methodology
- The SCATS configuration.
Supported version
PTV Optima supports the version 6.9 of SCATS ITS.
