SCATS Interface
The Sidney Coordinated Adaptive Traffic System Intelligent Transport System (SCATS ITS) is an area traffic management system that operates in real-time, adjusting signal timings in response to variations in traffic demand and system capacity as they occur.
SCATS ITS interface allows ITS applications provided by a third party to exchange data with a SCATS host using TCP/IP protocol.
SCATS can be connected to a wide set of different devices, as traffic controllers and detectors for:
- Reading direct measurements of different traffic data.
- Sending signals to manage these devices and manage in real time different traffic policies.
The integration of SCATS with PTV Optima, allows the governance of the traffic management policies according to:
- The offline planning simulation capabilities and the underlying model provided by PTV Visum.
- The real time features provided by PTV Optima.
The basic data workflow is based on six main steps:
When data arrived from SCATS interface are stored into the DB, these feed PTV Optima model.
To enable SCATS interface in PTV Optima, you need to perform two main steps:
- SCATS methodology
- SCATS configuration
Supported version
PTV Optima supports the version 6.9 of SCATS ITS.
