Optima Micro combines PTV Optima and PTV Vissim. It is used as a microscopic simulation engine.
Optima Micro allows you to request forecasts that are calculated by the microscopic simulation engine of PTV Vissim. This requires prepared subnetworks for simulations in PTV Vissim. Subnetworks are typically a smaller section of the large-scale, city-wide macroscopic model of PTV Optima.
When in operation, the subnetworks used by PTV Vissim are adjusted to the current traffic state by processing the information provided by PTV Optima on the macroscopic level. This allows you to provide results for decision support in areas or for traffic management actions, for which the interaction between and the behavior of individual vehicles is important, e.g. coordination-actuated signal controllers.
