Optima micro combines PTV Optima and PTV Vissim, which is used as a microscopic simulation engine.
Optima micro allows to request forecasts that are calculated by the microscopic simulation engine of PTV Vissim. This requires prepared subnetworks for the simulation in PTV Vissim. Subnetworks are typically a smaller section of the large-scale city wide macroscopic model of PTV Optima.
In operation, the subnetworks used by PTV Vissim are adjusted to the current traffic state by the information provided by PTV Optima on the macroscopic level. This allows to provide results for decision support in areas or for traffic management actions, for which the interaction between and the behavior of individual vehicles is important, e.g. coordination and vehicle actuated signal controllers.
